Team effort is Child's Play

We were approached by TNT to form a partnership to design and build offices and a nursery for charitable organisation Valley House. Valley House offers accommodation with support to people who are experiencing some form of personal crisis and were looking to provide a Sure Start children’s centre available to the whole community which could offer day care for 0-5yrs. We used our link with Bayliss design to produce a bespoke building to the client’s specific requirements.

‘Since the project involved a charity we were keen to support, we offered our services at cost. This was our first step into CSR and we have other projects in the pipeline…’ Chris Wright, Director, MWL

India schools project

Chris Wright recently completed a trip to India to investigate the possibility of sponsoring an organisation based in Delhi which operates within the economical and socially deprived areas of India to help children in those areas thrive via education.

"We were taken deep into the slums and saw some startling sites", says Chris Wright, "Raw sewage running through the streets, cows, pigs, goats feeding off rubbish, we saw a dead body on the side of the road and amongst this obvious poverty is hope for some of the lucky children that are taken in by the Deepalaya project. I remember vividly how happy and content the children were in every school we went to. We visited a boy’s orphanage where we played cricket all afternoon. The Deepalaya project is a truly remarkable organisation; we are currently in talks to decide a beneficial building project for one of the sites in which the charity operates.”

The Deepalaya project was founded 30 years ago and by 2001 had educated over 40,000 children across India, helping them become self-reliant and enjoy a healthier, dignified and sustainable quality of life.
