VWG UK - Dordon
Located in Tamworth, Staffordshire the national Volkswagen Audi distribution centre is a state of the art warehouse facility with a direct link into the UK rail network. In order to increase the flexibility of their operation VWG approached us to design & build a modification to their rail siding to allow it to be used by vehicle traffic without affecting the rail operation. This required the installation of new doorways, dock levellers, custom wheel guides and barriers. The depot now has the capacity to switch between rail and road function in under an hour.
The logistics for the project were far from straightforward as the siding and warehouse had to remain operational throughout the work. On an average day the depot handles in excess of 200 vehicle movements. With meticulous planning and precise management we were able to deliver the finished product on time, within budget and with minimal disruption to the operation of this busy warehouse
